Yes,

You can look hip while feeling good about not
contributing to the overproduction of goods on
this crowded earth. Please take a peak at the cost
information at the bottom of this page to get a
rough estimate of your custom hat.
So, here is what you need to
tell me:
1) How much of
a brainiac are you? Or, in other words, what is
the circumference of your head, where the brim
of the hat would sit? This measurement is
crucial to creating a well-fitting hat. Just
take a string, wrap it around your head and mark
the end points. Lay it flat on a ruler and see
what it says. I speak inches and centimeters.
2) What style
do you like? You can pick from basic models,
one-of-a-kind designs, or one of the styles our
happy customers are wearing.
3) What
materials do you have in mind? You can specify
wool, cashmere, leather, and suede for winter
hats and cotton for summer. I can also do some
models in silk or satin but they don't work for
every model because they are so soft.
4) What are
your colors? Thanks to numerous thrift stores
around Austin, I can find almost any color in
used and vintage materials. If an exact match is
needed, you can even send me a photo to use as a
guide.
5) Do you have
a favorite camel hair coat or a beloved cashmere
sweater that needs to be retired? How about
leather pants that you can't fit into anymore?
Send them on to me and I'll make your hat out of
your own favorite fabric.

cashmere sweater that the moths devoured? How
about a beloved angora cardigan with a stain? Your
jeans with more holes than solid areas? What about
that Shetland wool turtleneck you shrunk in the
wash? Don't wait, send it over to be reincarnated
as your new favorite hat!

How about a vintage button, a boy scout badge,
silk handkerchief, or a lovely belt buckle... they
are the perfect custom ornaments for your hat.

Cost Guidelines:
Price guidelines are included with
the hats shown on the "basic designs"
page. Special requests for complex decorations,
hard to find colors, and specialty fabrics such as
cashmere or silk will increase the price
slightly. I am also delighted to be
challenged by your one-of-a-kind hat requests and
will gladly provide you with an estimate.
If
you are losing your hair to chemotherapy and need
a hat to cheer you up and keep you warm, you have
my full sympathy which is worth a 50%
discount.
